Transform - West Nordic Arts and Crafts
The three West Nordic countries, Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, opened the arts and crafts exhibition "Transform" at The North Atlantic Pier (Bryggen) in Copenhagen on the 19th of May 2005 and then the exhibition travelled to the Faroe Islands where it opened in Mullers Pakhus in Torshavn on the 6th of August. Since then the exhibition has been in Estonia and Aland and opens next in The Nordic House in Reykjavik, Iceland, on the 11th of March 2006.
Modern arts and crafts items are on display at the exhibition but firmly rooted in each of the three countries tradition. The Icelandic contribution to the exhibition is jewelry and adornments and much of the jewelry on display is traditional filigree work or a modern version of the traditional craft of making jewelry. The Faroe Islands show things made of wool, new designs, modern and fashionable, new ways to work the material that has been called the islands gold. From Greenland come magic items made of stone and bone. After the exhibition closes in Denmark.
